Unions and Workplace
Safety
The affiliated unions of the AFL-CIO have historically promoted workplace safety and health laws.
The OSHA Act was enacted in 1971 as a direct result of organized labor’s support and efforts.
Under the OSHA ACT section 11[c] employees have a right to seek safety and health on the job without fear of punishment.
