Workers’ Memorial Day is observed every year in York County and around the country on April 28th to remember workers who have died on the job.

In the hope that we may be able to help educational plans move forward, the York-Adams County Central Labor Council has established a scholarship program.

We want to encourage students to learn about and examine issues that impact the Labor Movement. Therefore we have established the following guidelines.

Unions and Workplace

 Safety

The affiliated unions of the AFL-CIO have historically promoted workplace safety and health laws.

The OSHA Act was enacted in 1971 as a direct result of organized labor’s support and efforts.

Under the OSHA ACT section 11[c] employees have a right to seek safety and health on the job without fear of punishment.
